Nordic emerging artists presented at Market Art Fair

As a part of many event in the divserse programme of Stockholm Art Week, Market Art Fair is taking place May 12-14 in two locations in in exquisite Stockholm.

This year’s the fair features a new dimension entitled „Market Debut“ in Spritmuseum. In this section of the fair the focus is placed 13 emerging Nordic artists are presented by seven galleries. Gallery Þula, est 2020, is taking part in the new section presenting two artists: Kristín Morthens and Áslaug Íris Katrín Friðjónsdóttir. Both artists have been exhibiting vigorously in Iceland for the past years with prominent response. Other galleries are: Coulisse Gallery and Andys Gallery from Sweden, C. C. C. and Lagune Ouest from Denmark and MELK and Van Etten Gallery from Norway.

In the second location, Liljevalchs Kunsthall, one of Iceland’s leading contemporary art galleries  i8 gallery est. 1995, is presenting five artists. The gallery’s presentation will highlight a sculpture by Alicja Kwade, circular paintings by Callum Innes, a glass orb sculpture by Ólafur Elíasson, a minimalist horizontal double windowpane sculpture by Kristján Guðmundsson, and small-scale paintings by Yui Yaegashi, the newest addition to i8’s gallery roster.

Market Art Fair is the leading contemporary art fair in the Nordic region Initiated in 2006 by galleries representing the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, the fair has become a trusted meeting and market place in the heart of the Nordic art industry.
