How can you create an exhibition that primarily appeals to the ear, rather than the eye? This exhibition is presented as a possible answer to the paradox of “exhibiting sound” and simultaneously becomes a game or a puzzle. The question is marked by a certain impossibility since sound is usually accompanied by a visual context. It is difficult to prevent images from appearing at the site or in the listener’s mind. The exhibition therefore takes at its starting point the material and intrinsic qualities of sound. When sound is allowed to purely be sound, its connections to our memories and other places become clearer and more tangible. We begin to physically sense sound, be transported, travelling through the soundscape. In parallel with the exhibition, archival material from the collection of the Living Art Museum, will be presented along with material from other sound archives. Visitors can expect spontaneous events during the period of the exhibition.
