Fyrsti draumurinn / TRAUM*A - Borghildur Indriðadóttir & Olga Sonja Thorarensen - LG / Litla Gallerý 2025

In German, Traum means “dream” – a place for imagination, desire, and escape from reality. But in every dream lies the possibility of its opposite: Albtraum, the nightmare.

The word trauma comes from the Greek word trauma (τραύμα), which means wound. Today, it is also used for psychological wounds, often caused by events or situations that can be overwhelming or threatening and that the mind or body cannot fully cope with.

With the work, we want to examine the relationship between dream and trauma – where hope and fear meet and where dreams can transform into something else. A dream (Traum) can calm – or break down.

The performance and soundscape attempt to deal with certain nightmarish events, and we invite the audience to follow us through this installation in Litla Gallerý.

Soundscape in collaboration with Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson.
