Paintings and Poetry
Kristbergur Ó. Pétursson

The exhibition features oil paintings and watercolors created in recent years by artist Kristbergur Ó. Pétursson as well as selected poetry. Kristbergur has been writing poetry for several years and poetry has been a regular feature in his recent exhibitions.
Kristbergur studied at the Icelandic School of Art and Crafts from 1979 to 1985 and at the Royal Academy in Amsterdam from 1985 to 1988. He has had numerous solo exhibitions as well as participation in group exhibitions at home and abroad. Works by Kristbergur are owned by several major art museums in the country, including the National Gallery of Iceland, the Reykjavík Art Museum, the Reykjanesbær Art Museum and Hafnarborg.
He has received the artist salary grant six times, most recently in 2024 to complete the works for this exhibition as well as works for a group exhibition he participated in in Amsterdam in November 2024. In addition to the artist grants, he has received project grants from the Icelandic Visual Arts Fund, Muggur travel grant and other project grants.
