Bimala Dutta Safnasafnid

Dutta is well known for her line paintings on traditional mythological subjects. She is one of the better known Mithila painters in Madhubani, in India. She learnt painting from her mother and elder sister. With over five decades of practice she has developed her own distinctive style. One of the images on display shows the goddess Kali and the other one is Ardhanarishvara; the composite male and female Hindu figure, a manifestation of Shiva combined with Parvati.
