Steinvængr

Steinvængr is a joint exhibition by Matthías Rúnar Sigurðsson and Hjördís Gréta Guðmundsdóttir, where paintings and sculptures interact. The exhibition features, for example, paintings of butterflies, bluewings – illuminated by an imagined flashlight held by a person – as well as mischievous spirits in the form of stone sculptures that evoke reflections on ancient, mythical beings.
Amid angelica, grass, and other vegetation, one can find small moments where a butterfly flies by and a petrified trickster has chosen a place to dwell. With the flashlight, the person instinctively tries to reconnect with the nocturnal light that once shone much brighter.
